Compliance Note
Branson & Co. makes inspection forms, log books, labels, and related compliance products designed to support drivers and carriers in meeting Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) recordkeeping rules. Our products are designed against the relevant regulatory text, including but not limited to:
- §395 — Hours of Service of Drivers
- §396.11 — Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports
- §396.13 — Driver Inspection (review of prior report)
- §396.17 — Periodic Inspection (annual inspections and recordkeeping)
What our products are
Our products are paper-based recordkeeping tools. They include the fields, format, and structure that align with the cited regulations. They are designed to be filled out by the driver or qualified inspector in accordance with the rule that applies to the specific form.
What our products are not
Our products are not a substitute for compliance with the regulations themselves. We do not provide legal advice, regulatory interpretation, or carrier-specific compliance guidance. Buying or using a Branson & Co. product does not guarantee compliance with any FMCSA rule or other applicable law.
Your responsibility
Drivers, carriers, and fleet operators are responsible for:
- Completing forms accurately and at the times required by the applicable rule
- Storing completed forms for the period required by the applicable rule
- Producing forms for inspection by enforcement personnel when required
- Knowing which rules apply to your operation, vehicle class, and jurisdiction
- Maintaining your own internal procedures for the use and review of recordkeeping documents
Drivers and carriers are responsible for completing, storing, and using inspection records according to applicable rules and company procedures.
State and local rules
Some states and localities impose additional or alternative requirements beyond the federal FMCSA rules. Our products are designed against the federal text. If your operation is subject to additional requirements, you are responsible for confirming that the form, format, and retention practices you use also satisfy those requirements.
Rule changes
FMCSA periodically updates its rules. We update our forms to reflect changes when they take effect, but there can be a transition period between a rule change and a new form release. We post material rule-change updates on our Driver Resources page.
